HELLLLLLLPPPPPPP! I’M on FIRE and there is NO WATER IN SIGHT!!

Let’s first go to the word and look at 1 Corinthians 7:9 in a few of my favorite Bible translations….

1 Corinthians 7:9 New Living Translation (NLT)
9 But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust.
1 Corinthians 7:9 The Message (MSG)
8-9 I do, though, tell the unmarried and widows that singleness might well be the best thing for them, as it has been for me. But if they can’t manage their desires and emotions, they should by all means go ahead and get married. The difficulties of marriage are preferable by far to a sexually tortured life as a single.
1 Corinthians 7:9 Amplified Bible (AMP)
9 But if they have not self-control (restraint of their passions), they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame [with passion and tortured continually with ungratified desire].
When looking at all of these versions, Paul is talking to the church. Paul was content with being single but he realized that the gift of singleness is NOT for everyone. You have sexual desires and a FIRE that is burning up inside of you. You feel like you are a volcano that is about to erupt. You’ve made up in your mind that you DO want to be married. Now what?? There is NO man or woman in sight that you can marry. It’s like being ON FIRE and there isn’t a fireman in sight. What do you do now? These are questions that many single Christians ask God. You’re striving to do the right thing and flee fornication but you have sexual desires that don’t seem to want to disappear. You meet that man or that woman and that person seems to be really nice, but more than anything you can’t ignore the fact that that man/woman is soooooo FINE! You don’t want to look at that person with a lustful eye, but you are human, aren’t you? You’re not a robot, it’s perfectly NORMAL to desire someone. 1 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV) says, “ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” As a single Christian it is CLEARLY stated in the word that fornication is forbidden. So, the question many ask is, “If I’m not able to have sex outside of marriage and there are no eligible love interests, then what am I supposed to do?” I wish that I could give you some INCREDIBLE revelation that would help you in your journey but unfortunately I have one AMAZING solution to your problem and that is…… PRAYER. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 (Message) says, “Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens.”  When the enemy tries to throw temptation your way…..PRAY! I PROMISE you that God will give you a way of escape. Because of the fact that our world is so sexually driven these days and sex is EVERYWHERE…..on TV, in movies and in music I am NOT going to tell you that it will be easy to abstain. I LOVE these song lyrics which say, “Nobody told me that the road would be easy but I don’t believe he brought me this far to leave me.” As Christians, many times God places us in uncomfortable positions to see if we will TOTALLY lean and depend on him. The WONDERFUL thing is that with the Holy Spirit on your side you can conquer ANYTHING!!! You have the GREATER one on the inside of you so there is NO problem too difficult for God to help you deal with. Keep that FIRE of sexual desire down by PRAYING, LIVING in the Word and TRUSTING that God has an AMAZING spouse for you that He will present to you in HIS timing. More than anything, NEVER forget that God is WITH YOU and that He LOVES you.

A short real-life story:

“In some years back, somewhere in Kenya, a girl of ten was kidnapped by three evil-minded men. The small kid was the breadwinner of the family, because if she doesn’t hawk or sell goods, the parents will not be able to make provision for her schooling and to put food on the table.
While hawking, she was taken into captive by these three men of the dark and was tied with ropes. One of the kidnappers was checking on her, while the other two men went to bring the car they’ll use to take her away. Early on, they’ve covered her mouth with cloth so that she couldn’t cry out for help. As the Lord would have it, she cried with pain, and a she lion from a very far area heard her cry and began to trace her voice (groaning) till it came to the location, and when the man saw the lion, he ran away and he even felt sorry for the girl in his heart because of the lion.
“….what an unlucky girl?”. He said!
But fortunately, the lion sat beside the girl. When the two other men got to the girl with the car with intention of finishing what they’ve started, they saw the lion and ran for their life too. They felt the same way the first man felt for the small girl.
As soon as they fled farther away, the lion stood up and went its way, and the girl was delivered by miraculous power of the most high.”

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and there are many people who are ALREADY depressed about the fact that they are single and not in a relationship. I’m here to let you in on a little secret…..Valentine’s Day is ONLY ONE DAY!! Just because you are not married or not in a relationship…it is NOT the end of the world. TRUST ME….you WILL survive! Take the day to enjoy YOU. If you’re a female….treat yourself to a day at the spa with a manicure/pedicure and a massage. Get your hair done. Go to the mall and buy a new dress. Grab some of your single friends and catch dinner and a movie. If you don’t feel like doing any of that….take the day and just RELAX. Either way….don’t be sad, depressed and upset because YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

If being alone on Valentine’s Day isn’t your issue, you might be dealing with the fact that you are going through a tough time in your life and you feel that God has totally forgotten about you. I’m here to encourage you in the fact that God has NOT forgotten about YOU. He knows ALL ABOUT YOU and about EVERYTHING that you are going through. There is an END DATE to the pain. EVERY STORM MUST END. God is your Father and HE LOVES YOU. Don’t let the enemy STEAL your joy and get you to thinking that God has left you all alone.

Isaiah 54:10 (MSG) says, “‘For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you,my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart.’ The God who has compassion on you says so.”

You are NOT alone. I know that sometimes it feels like God has thrown you in the wilderness without food, water or help but just know that your Heavenly Father LOVES you and He is ALWAYS by your side.
Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”
God has so many GREAT things in store for you. If you ONLY knew the things that he had planned for you, you wouldn’t be crying, stressed, frustrated and angry. You would be CELEBRATING. If it’s that new job that you want, don’t get frustrated….just PRAISE. If it’s that husband or wife that you desire….don’t HATE when someone else is getting married…..just PRAISE God for your WONDERFUL spouse. If it’s that wonderful home that you want, ride around in the neighborhood that you WANT to live in and PRAISE GOD that you will be moving in the neighborhood SOON! If it’s that new car that you want, go to the dealer and test drive the car and PRAISE God that you will be getting the keys to it SOON. While you’re praising and waiting on the manifestation to come, don’t get upset when God blesses someone else with a new car, just THANK him for the one that he is blessing you with.

TESTIMONY TIME: the first car that I got was a 1987 Ford Escort and it was a HOOPTY. It would break down on me at the most inconvenient times and even on highways and other random places. There was no A/C in it so it was SUPER HOT in the summer.  It was the WORST. But, I was thankful for it because I paid for it with just $600 of my hard earned money; and I had even paid an additional $500 to get it painted black (it was an ugly two-toned light blue and navy blue when I first bought it). While I was riding around in my hoopty, tons of people were getting BRAND NEW cars and I just stayed excited about the car that I had. I only had that Escort for about 8 months because it eventually DIED on me. After the Ford Escort, I graduated….a LITTLE. I then purchased a 1992 Oldsmobile Delta 88 car. It was a small step up in the fact that I had power windows and the A/C worked….some of the time. The car wasn’t perfect….but I was still THANKFUL for it. That car eventually DIED. At that moment I was in the crossroads. Family members were telling me to just get a car that would take me from Point A to Point B. I did NOT want a car that would take me from A to B. I wanted to travel ALL THE WAY to Z! Lol! I was ready for a BRAND NEW car. After having 2 used cars,  I wanted to get something that NO ONE owned. I went to the car dealer to get a new car and the salesman assured me that I would NOT be able to get into a BRAND NEW vehicle without a co-signer. I was young and had NO credit at all and they were NOT going to take a chance on me. I left that car dealer and went to another dealer and asked if they could help me. The salesman assured me that they had some deals that were going to come in during President’s Day weekend in February. This was early January so I had to wait an ENTIRE 6 weeks to get my new vehicle. For that 6 weeks ALL I DID WAS PRAISE. I would be riding in the car saying, “Praise You Lord for my BRAND NEW 2005 CHEVY MALIBU!” I would repeat that OVER and OVER and OVER…..EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! On Saturday, February 19,2005, the salesman from the Chevrolet dealer called and said, “Christian, I have GOOD news for you. You were APPROVED. You can come and get the car TODAY!” I was OVERWHELMED with JOY and THANKSGIVING to God because I was getting a BRAND NEW 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. It was a HUGE deal for me because God blessed me with that car as a result of MY FAITH. I BELIEVED GOD. I didn’t care what ANYONE said….I was getting a BRAND NEW CAR with NO-COSIGNER. God worked it ALL out. He can do the SAME thing for you. ONLY BELIEVE!

James 1:2-4 (KJV) says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
BE PATIENT! GREAT things are ON THE WAY for you! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out — plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” God has so many GREAT things in store for your life! You just have to be PATIENT!  Some of you are going through tough times. One day you’ll look back on these days and cry with TEARS of JOY and thanks to God about how you made it.
REPEAT these POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS:
GOD LOVES ME
I AM NOT ALONE
I AM A SUCCESS
I AM A WINNER
I AM BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
MY NEEDS ARE MET
I AM HEALED
I AM FULL OF JOY
Marvin Sapp has an AMAZING song titled, “He Has His Hands On You” that I PRAY will encourage you, bless you and let you see that God’s hands are on your life and YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
God Bless You!
